A web guy moves to Houston. Monday, December 16, 2013. So have a great holiday folks. I will be making the 14 hour drive to the plains of Illinois this year and spend Christmas with my two rugrats. I get to make pralines, snickerdoodles, and flavored chocolates this year. It is going to be a ball. Location: Houston, TX, USA. Monday, December 9, 2013. There just comes a time. Here we come a' marchin' towards the holidays. There are beautiful lights up at the Houston Zoo. Life is just good this time of year.
The Move: More than the buildings
http://webguyinhouston.blogspot.com/2015/04/more-than-buildings.html
A web guy moves to Houston. Tuesday, April 21, 2015. More than the buildings. It is more than the buildings, you know. More than the seemingly endless shops, restaurants, parks, and theaters. It really is that people that make this such a great city. I know that every metropolitan area will espouse the folks that inhabit it, but the case for Houston is a very strong one for one simple reason. We were sitting in her office having a box lunch. Now that is just one example. Every time I go out to a ...Illin...
The Move: December 2014
http://webguyinhouston.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
A web guy moves to Houston. Monday, December 22, 2014. With chocolate and cheesecake. As I wrap up 2014 I leisurely sat back in my recliner, sipped a wonderfully made hot toddy and watched Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby croon "White Christmas". If only that were true. Zazzles, my cat, will not go into the kitchen now. It was definitely the break I needed and appreciated. I even felt confident spilling peppermint oil in her kitchen. It is the holiday season and I really miss my two young 'uns and a certain la...

After a lovely spring break vacation (the university allots a three day weekend for staff - no I am not complaining.). I am now in the midst of preparing for the impending invasion of teenagers. The Move: May 2015
http://webguyinhouston.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
A web guy moves to Houston. Monday, May 18, 2015. Well, it was bound to happen. It just had to happen at some point. After nearly three years of attending (almost) weekly performances at Miller Outdoor Theater. There had to be a clunker. The worst part of it is that it had absolutely nothing to do with the performance but with my fellow audience members around me. You see, I attended the Houston Ballet's performance of Giselle. Location: Houston, TX, USA. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. People from all over.
The Move: A walk on the moon
http://webguyinhouston.blogspot.com/2015/04/a-walk-on-moon.html
A web guy moves to Houston. Thursday, April 2, 2015. A walk on the moon. Okayfirst off. NASA is just COOL! The kids and I visited the Johnson Space Center. And it was simply awesome. I have been interested in space all of my life, not maniacal about it mind you, but always interested. Well, this place was definitely worth the visit. Cannot say enough about it. There is also a tram tour of the facility and we got to see some of the new "deep space" stuff that they are working on. Location: Houston, TX, USA.
The Move: October 2013
http://webguyinhouston.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
A web guy moves to Houston. Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Tis the season of falling leaves (although here in the south, that doesn't happen for a while.), the smell of warm apple cider, pies in the oven, football on the tele, Jack o' Lanterns all about. If I had to pick a favorite season, fall may be it (as long as it does not get cold). Which runs to the beginning of December. Now, if you will excuse me.my bowl of candy corn is empty. Location: Houston, TX, USA. Friday, October 18, 2013. The little ones ...
The Move: People from all over
http://webguyinhouston.blogspot.com/2015/05/people-from-all-over.html
A web guy moves to Houston. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. People from all over. Happy Cinco de Mayo! I know that it is day late.). Being a stereo-typical, corn-fed, midwestern born, middle aged, white guy I feel that I can fit right in and contribute to the diversity that is the city of Houston. Living in one of the most diverse cities in these United States, I take great pride in bringing my unique culture to the masses. This past weekend I was (as usual) at Miller Outdoor. For a Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Corn Bred Kid in Cali: Air mattress be damned...
http://cornbredincali.blogspot.com/2015/07/air-mattress-be-damned.html
Corn Bred Kid in Cali. An Illinois boy moving to the San Jose, California region. Monday, July 13, 2015. Air mattress be damned. Ok the movers are now not scheduled to be here until next weekend (insert obligatory grumble and gripe here.) I found a leak in my air mattress, so I am now sleeping on one of the kid's single mattress. Oy! But on to some good news, I spent my first full weekend here and on Saturday I drove to Monterey to see/join the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Claims to be "artichoke center of the...
