Offene Gartenpforte «. Raditionell öffnen viele britische Gartenbesitzer an bestimmten Tagen ihre Gärten für interessierte Gartenliebhaber. Diese Gärten sind im National Gardens Scheme - Gardens open for charity. Aufgelistet. Derzeit nehmen Besitzer von ca. 3.800 Gärten teil. In Nachteil ist allen Gärten gemeinsam: sie sind in ihrer horizontalen Ausdehnung begrenzt. Oder anders ausgedrückt: sie sind grundsätzlich zu klein. Das trifft leider auch auf unseren Garten zu. Doch Not macht bekanntlich erfinderisch und so besannen wir uns auf die dritte Dimension, welche nur durch gelegentlich tieffliegende Düsenjets eingeschränkt ist. Deswegen griffen wir statt zu Beet- und Bodendeckerrosen eben zu Kletterrosen.

Oberhalb des großen Teichs habe ich eine kleinere Wasserfläche gestaltet. Diese wird mit einer Teichpumpe aus dem unteren Teich gespeist. Für die Randbepflanzung haben wir ausschließlich nichtwuchernde Pflanzen ausgesucht. Pflanzen mit einem starken Ausbreitungsdrang wie z.B. Typha latifolia. Uuml;ber einen Skimmer gereinigt ergießt sich das Wasser als breiter Schleier wieder in den unteren Teich.
