Sunday, July 30. Last day of fun and the hard slog ahead. Yesterday we were invited to 'bon Odori' - the literal translation of this will wierd you out. 'odori' is dance. 'bon' is the festival of the dead. to the uninitiated (like ME) it seemed merely to be an invitation to a dance/bazaar/traditional festival. I sure didn't know that this was a festival that was done to give tribute to their ancestors! This is Shiaw Jia in her yukata. Like lambs to the slaughter - ignorant of our fate!
