This sub appellation most often recognized for being the place Where great wine meets great food in the Napa Valley. Is beginning to show up on more and more labels as the region continues to gain notoriety for its wines. Mid-summer peak temperatures may reach 90°F (31°C), with night-time lows in the mid-50°F range (13°C). 20 to 200 ft (6 to 61m) Rainfall: 32 inches (80 cm) annually. Principally gravelly silt loams, sedimentary in origin, and gravelly alluvial soils with rock, moderately fertile.

Wind machines are used extensively around the vineyards to move air, thus keeping the air temperatures hovering just above freezing. With delicate buds, leaves and shoots emerging it’s a time when frost can kill the early growth.
