The PANEL on Zed: Presidential appointments
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2011/11/presidential-appointments.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Thursday, 3 November 2011. The most serious problem facing Michael Sata's government today is not civil servants leaking information about his appointments. It is the quality of his appointments that is a problem. And this is what Michael should focus his attention on and find ways to improve the quality of his appointments so that they are accepted by the great majority of our people. And Frederick Hapunda among others have made v...

The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Monday, 23 August 2010. According to the OECD, the most commonly used definition of corruption is. 8220;the abuse of public office for private gain”. Transparency International amplifies this definition further. The low level corruption where one pays a small amount of money (or uses a personal connection) to expedite a process (e.g. get a form signed) and then there is the high level corruption where perhaps a Minister use...Then ...

The PANEL on Zed: A new dawn?
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2011/10/new-dawn.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Friday, 21 October 2011. It is almost a month since the Micheal Sata led PF swept the MMD from power. I am one of the people who firmly believed that the MMD would do everything and anything to make sure they returned power. There were even pronouncements from the MMD leadership that “Sata will never rule this country”. In the end no rigging or RB branded lollipops were enough to stop PF winning the election. Some blogs on Zambia.

The PANEL on Zed: The President's trip to India
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2012/03/presidents-trip-to-india.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Wednesday, 28 March 2012. The President's trip to India. It is sometimes said that the first law of survival is "When in hole stop digging". The events surrounding the President’s “private” trip to India makes very sad reading and demonstrate that in this information age you can not easily fool people. With so many sources of independent sources information, liars will always be found out. We all knew this was a load of cobblers!

The PANEL on Zed: Mpombo gives advice on pact presidency
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2010/10/mpombo-gives-advice-on-pact-presidency.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Monday, 4 October 2010. Mpombo gives advice on pact presidency. After a week of mud slinging within the PF/UPND pact, I am encouraged by mature statements from Nawakwi, Sata, Hichilema and Mpombo over the weekend. I am no fan of Mpombo but his words make sense. He said he hoped the spirit they had demonstrated in Chilanga would manifest into strong unity of purpose. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Some blogs on Zambia. Presiden...

The PANEL on Zed: May 2010
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Thursday, 27 May 2010. Court shows leniency to plunderers. The POST and the Times are carrying the story involving the conviction of former finance officers in President Chiluba’s government. The lawyer for Katele did not seem to realise how angry the people of Zambia are with the actions of his client by offering this rather pathetic plea. Tuesday, 4 May 2010. It’s how we end that matters" by Martin Kalungu-Banda. As we search for...

The PANEL on Zed: January 2010
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Monday, 18 January 2010. Chipolopolo boys’ poor display at CAN. To be fair to the boys, they started well and scored a good goal in the 8th minute. The Lions were clearly in disarray defensive wise and we should have taken advantage of the ageing Rigobert Song to score another goal to secure the victory. After the game I arrived at the conclusion that GRZ should stop wasting taxpayers’ dollars on the Zambian National Soccer T...

The PANEL on Zed: February 2010
http://panel-on-zed.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
The PANEL on Zed. Political, social and economic issues affecting Zambia. Thursday, 25 February 2010. The Day the Immigrants Left (the UK). From time to time I take a break from focusing on Zambian issues and look at other topical matters. This week the BBC programme “The Day the Immigrants Left” has caught my eye. The results of the programme proved what I have always suspected. The UK is bringing up a generation of people who are work shy and want to sit all day at home watching TV or playing Play ...
