Gary's Birding Blog: April 2015
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Monday, 20 April 2015. Patch Birding once again. Been blasting the patch again and a first for me.another birder. I am not alone on my wooded waterway. A fairly quiet day otherwise with most birds seemingly put off by the chilly easterly. Although a few year ticks, with a very early Reed Warbler, a fly over Tree Pipit and a surprisingly long time coming Coot. Here are the best pics of the day. This was today thought it looked cool. Tuesday, 7 April 2015. Migrants on the Patch. I carried on walking throug...

Gary's Birding Blog: Getting up at 5am does make a difference
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2015/06/getting-up-at-5am-does-make-difference.html
Tuesday, 9 June 2015. Getting up at 5am does make a difference. Last night I found the young owls once again that I had seen last week ( I actually found two extra sets elsewhere also). So as the light is terrible in the deep dark woods in the evening I thought would go early doors to see what I could get. I covered two sections of my patch walking from Bacton Woods through to Ebridge. The baby owls were still in the same spot but the light still wasn't that great, so I walked on. This Bee gave me a wave.

Gary's Birding Blog: November 2014
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 6 November 2014. One of those days.(of the good version). Sometimes you head out birding and everything just falls into place, Saturday was one of them days. I headed to Breydon Water in the hope of seeing a Rough-legged Buzzard well as I had heard that they were showing well down there. After sorting the kid out I headed off and got to Breydon at about 9.45. I carried on and could hear the Golden Plover calling I turned around to see them all in the air. I continued to watch the Rough-legged B...

Gary's Birding Blog: July 2014
http://garybirder.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, 27 July 2014. Butterflies and a Moth (Camberwell Beauty). I went to Cley to see the Silvery Gem and just so it wasn't a trip to see a moth I stopped of at Salthouse Heath and Holt Country Park to see some butterflies. Highlight has to be the Camberwell Beauty, although all four sightings were brief it was great to see it. Couldn't get any pictures though as total time I saw it stationary probably added up to 2 seconds. Also saw Turtle Dove and Hobby at Salthouse and this at Holt. And a smaller one.

Wednesday, 30 April 2014. Easter - Four Days, 9 Patch Year Ticks and Two More Patch Lifers. Got down to Trimingham at 6am on Good Friday (18th April) it was very windy and very cold. The sunrise looked nice over the sea. The birds were quiet and elusive a passing shower didn't help but the end of the rainbow was towards the end of the patch so surely there would be gold or something as good. A fair few Meadow Pipits were about. I added Sedge Warbler to the list of spring arrivals before reaching the othe...

Devil Birder's blog: March 2014
http://devilbirder.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 19 March 2014. Lots and lots to be getting on with so just a quick catch up on what I've been up to this month. A trip to Scotland on 10th and 11th didn't go as well as planned, with a speeding ticket and no American Herring Gull in the Campbeltown area, although we did find the drake BLACK DUCK. At Strontian.Other highlights from the trip included two Snow Geese. And good numbers of Greenland White-fronted Geese. Drake Black Duck at Strontian with female Mallard. Firecrest in Banstead Woods, ...
