the independent little bee...

Sunday, May 10, 2015. You have to watch this awesome video of a blind mom and her ultrasound of her baby! It was so special to watch. It got me thinking this Mother's Day weekend of my own mom. I think of her often of course but sometimes I get too clinical because I ponder things from a blind perspective or from a third party, an outsider if you will, insights. But after I watched this video, I simply just thought of her. The blindness of those around her that would tell her that she would't be able to ...

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Hungry, Hungry Hippos! Have you seen the human version of hungry, hungry hippos on Facebook? I saw it and the moment I saw it, I knew I had. To do this with my students! Here's how we did it:. 1 I bought some regular play balls (that you would use in ball pit). I bought mine from S&S Worldwide. You can buy them anywhere. They are pretty standard. I bought the pack of 100 and realized that with over 20 people playing, I would need more. I would plan on two. 5 I saw a few versions ...

We can do board games, which we have and have modified them ourselves with a braille labeler but what could that BIG present be now that he can’t really use the items his friends get? And this my friends is the question I will leave you with and if you have any ideas let me know :). Sunday, November 16, 2014. You can customize them to fit your student's needs. Each les...

Sunday, August 24, 2014. Color Happy at Camp Abilities CT! I have done a lot of super fun things with my students but this past August at Camp Abilities 2014 was hands down one of the best things I have done at camp. It started with the custom Carolina blue sunglasses that read Camp Abilities CT on the side. Next was the 75lbs of colored corn starch that I ordered. Then it was matter of planning with my team- what would be our route? Holy cow, this was a BLAST! My interns and me. What a great time! Our f...

We are all keeping busy with our normal day to day activities, but now MC baseball is back in full swing and we are all so excited! MC is doing well, but this week will be important. Taking It Day By Day. Tuesday, August 9, 2011. Instead of "the end" it's so cute. Anyway I just wanted to give you guys a quick update, it's late and I think both the kids might. Finally be sleeping *fingers crossed*. Tuesday, August 2, 2011. We had a great time. Oh and about a week ago, Skyler got his first tricycle! I was amazed that I managed to find one that he can reach the pedals on. He still doesn't know how to make it go on his own yet, but we're working on it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). VoicePr...

Taking It Day By Day. Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Excellent news: The pediatrician watched the video I made of the little guy shaking rapidly and he says it's something called a shuddering attack (or shuddering spell), it doesn't affect the brain and he will outgrow it. It just looks scary because it can be mistaken for a real seizure. You have no idea how relieved I am. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Sunday, July 3, 2011. Taking It Day By Day. Monday, May 23, 2011. Skyler is talking so much more, I didn't think it was possible but he's starting to be a bit calmer now that he can get his point across without screaming. I mean he's still a spitfire without a doubt but he's now saying things like "want it." "hold it." "upset" "no thank you mommy" and the needless screaming has lessened a bit. Adriel now is almost 3 months and weighs 13.8 pounds. Can you believe it? Tuesday, May 10, 2011. The Twos: Temper Tantrums. The meds h...

http://notamama.blogspot.com/2012/01/january.html

Taking It Day By Day. Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Has it really been since November? Adriel is walking unassisted now. 4 or 5 steps at a time, but I think by tomorrow or the next day he will be full blown walking on his own. I found out there is a medieval festival thing going on the summer time in a little town not too far from here so I am also making a dress to wear to that. Can you tell I like period costumes? I always love hearing how you and the boys are making out! January 12, 2012 at 10:29 AM.

Taking It Day By Day. Monday, October 17, 2011. Saturday, October 15, 2011. Then when we examine the learning environment of the "traditional school", we find even more reasons to home school. I'll put them in list format to make it easier to read. Schools assume that everyone learns the same way, they use a one size fits all approach. Children don't all learn the same way. Some are auditory learners, some are tactile, some visual or a combination of the different types. If a child is fidgety (who wouldn...

Taking It Day By Day. Monday, November 28, 2011. Homeschool is Awesome Because. You get to stay up late if they can't sleep. You can wake up any time and do your learning/lessons. You can learn/teach in your pyjamas. You don't have to walk/drive to school in -40c weather. If it's nice out you can do your lessons outside. Your child learns at their own pace. If they have troubles you can slow down and explain it again and do extra review. If they're ahead they can keep working ahead. One on one instruction.

A Different Kind of War

Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Well, I Guess It's Give and Take. Firstly, I can't believe that I've gained almost 8kgs since my heart bypass! My weight has always been maintained at a (classified number which if I have to tell you, I will have to kill you after that. By telling you really bad jokes) and imagine my fright when I went on the weighing machine (which measures your height and your BMI too) at the hospital and this machine churned out the piece of paper. I'm laughing at the swearing and cursing).

Get clear. Get bold. Get balance. - A Different Kind of Work

The Curtain’s Coming Down on A Different Kind of Work. It has been a blast being here these last five years. During that time I’ve built up quite a body of work about making work work for you. Not from any conventional perspective, but from the perspective of who you are as a person and what really makes you tick. In recent months, however, I’ve awakened to a much deeper understanding of what it’s all about. It’s a long story. If you’re interested to read the whole thing, check it out here.
