Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad
Mandy and Andy: October 2014
http://andrewandamandaineurope.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad. So, Amanda explained to me today, in not so gentle terms, that my last post was boring and that people might want to hear more about my daily life down here. Okay fine, that does sound a bit more interesting than national elections. So, any other suggestions for other activities? Any requests for my next blog posts? Any ideas for Roboburbia? Brazil Elections Take Two. Brazil elections this Sunday. Http:/ www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-29370759. One other...
Mandy and Andy: Back in Brazil
http://andrewandamandaineurope.blogspot.com/2015/03/back-in-brazil.html
Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad. I just passed the two week point in my stay in Brazil and it's past time to post something here. I've been posting some on my more academic-minded blog (andresdelipez.wordpress.com) but neglected this little space. So what have I been doing for two weeks? Where will I be going? Mandy and Andy: Grileiros and grilagem
http://andrewandamandaineurope.blogspot.com/2015/04/grileiros-and-grilagem.html
Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad. This is what people are talking about when they say that Brazil's soy frontier region is the Wild West. To some extent the representations of Brazil as a lawless place are based on stereotypes and pre-conceived notions, but the threat of grileiros is a real threat; both in terms of economics and personal safety for farmers. Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad. So, here's a brief summary of what I've done. 10 sit-down, formal interviews with farmers and investors. 5 farm visits, usually lasting about a day. About 50 pictures for my "Photography of Change" project, plus notes on each one. A visit with my next research subjects, that generally went quite well and is very encouraging. A new research project - https:/ andresdelipez.wordpress.com/2014/11/23/goiania-shopping-middlewomen/. This blog will be on a kind of hia...
Mandy and Andy: Amanda in Brazil: Part I
http://andrewandamandaineurope.blogspot.com/2015/06/amanda-in-brazil-part-i.html
Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad. Amanda in Brazil: Part I. We were able to meet first in Brasilia, oddly enough our flights both had connections there around the same time. We were able to have breakfast together, Amanda had her first pao de queijo (a very popular Brazilian breakfast pastry, like cheesebread), and we spent a few hours talking before our next flights to Fortaleza. Muddle one lime with a teaspoon of sugar. Fill the glass half full of ice. Amanda's first caipirinha, we managed t...

We all know that the Netherlands is well known for its overflowing support for cyclists—spacious bicycle paths and traffic priority in roundabout to name a few. However, I am quite amazed with the fact that the country went so far as to inventing a basketball exercise for cyclists! This invention is called ‘. The 'Queenlessness' of Queen's Day. As published in Resource Magazine. For Wageningen University students and employees), 21 April 2011. Participant Observation' is a research strategy of gathering data through participating in the phenomenon to be studied and observing it in its 'natural' environment. Last year, I had an assignment to use participant observation on Queen's Day (30 April 2010) in the Netherlands. Interestingly, the main finding was: the 'Queenlessness' of Queen's Day. My Brain in the Train (1). Her long dark hair is tight up in a ponytail style with a pink elastic hair band. The pink color matches the color of her T-shirt. I like pink. I like it a lot so that the image of that little girl sticks on my mind. If I have to guess, I would say that she’s around 9 years old, hopefully studying in elementary school at daytime. But, who am I to hope for her, on which is best for her? The train is about to depart. She steps out from the door. As the train doors close, ...Subsc...

http://mileiva.blogspot.com/2014/01/minum-jus-atau.html

A Speech to Pawan Patil. I delivered this speech one hour ago in Bonn International Toastmasters Club. At the end of the speech, together with the round of applause from the-always-supporting people in Toastmasters, I felt so nostalgic of my FUNtastic time with my previous boss, Pawan Patil, in the World Bank Office Jakarta. I would like to share the speech with you- readers. In the beginning, I asked the Host of the evening to inform the following to the audience:. Wonderful colleagues and friends,.

Tanzania Volunteer Workcamp 2010: Food for Thoughts. During the workcamp, not only there were lots of “food for thoughts”, but also lots of thoughts were put for (preparing) food. Nevertheless, Aunt Teddy and Aunt Kristina (the cooking team from ELU Children Care ‘ECC’ School) were helping us every day, happily and skillfully! Thank you for cooking! A typical 'delicious' lunch time during the construction work. Asante Ianthe for the Picture! The workcamp was in August 2010, in ELU Children Care School.

I love you. I love you not. I love you. I love you not. I love you. I love you not. My view, Dec 18th, 06:50 am. Heading East: Sorong Selatan. A solid wish, well said a year ago, "I want to know more of my country, especially East part of Indonesia, eventually Papua/West Papua." I've always been a big believer that dreams do come true, of course with the three must-dos: detailed it, say it, walk toward it. Here's a tiny bit of the trip. Hope to be able to come back here and share more with you. Feel free...

Another trip to the land of dreams. The second trip to the land of dreams took place on January 28th - February 9th, 2013. Good to be back! I love the feeling of coming back to a faraway place. Something like re-reading a book. I am able to be more relax in absorbing the surrounding, more connected to the people because I don't have to focus that much on getting to the must-see places. Also, this time it is for a structured Learning Week @headquarters and to co-lead three dissemination events. Merga Dama...

I really like it. The inspiration comes from the Pottery Barn Linen Board Advent Calendar below. Next step was attaching my.

Our adventures in North Carolina and abroad. Amanda in Brazil: Part II. The next day we kind of hung around town in the morning until our tour of the lencois left in the afternoon. The Lencois are a massive area of white sand, spotted with little clear lakes. It's a remarkable view. The contrast between the forest below and the lencois is really striking. Walking over the ridge to see the white sand is something I'll never forget. A boat doing the same boat tour as us. This monkey ate like three coconuts.
