Ask a Foodie...: Better late than not at all..

http://www.askafoodie.blogspot.com/2014/11/better-late-than-not-at-all.html

Tuesday, November 4, 2014. Better late than not at all. The October Daring Bakers' challenge was brought to us by Korena of Korena in the Kitchen. She took us to Austria and introduced us to the wonders of the Sachertorte. So what is Sachertorte; well according to good'ol wikipedia it is a chocolate cake that was created and developed by an Austrian by the name of Hanz Sacher in1832, they also share that December 5th is apparently National Sachertorte day. You can find more information from wiki here.

Ask a Foodie...: October 2012

http://www.askafoodie.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 31, 2012. French Pastry my favorite. First off, I am sorry to my friends at the Daring Kitchen as I am posting this very late. But posting none the less. Our October 2012 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Suz of Serenely Full. Suz challenged us to not only tackle buttery and flaky puff pastry, but then take it step further and create a sinfully delicious Mille Feuille dessert with it! My husband loved them, and has asked when might I make them again. Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

Thursday, September 29, 2011. The book though has many recipes, I was fortunate enough to find it at half price books years ago. After the final chill, you take out the dough, roll it out to a foot by 36 inches and cut out your croissants and roll them up. (I finally have pictures.). These are the final version. My in-laws thought it was funny that I was taking pictures of food, which they have seen me do countless times, but I can not help it, I like to remember what the dish I consumed looked like&...

Paris-Brest [Daring Bakers] :: Daily Candor

http://dailycandor.com/paris-brest-daring-bakers

This month’s challenge was a French pastry. At first I thought “oh, great” – French pastry is incredibly time-consuming, and if you cut corners in any way, everything falls apart. Just like your typical Parisian when you speak broken French to them: very unforgiving. But this is supposed to be a challenge, right? The November Daring Baker’s challenge took us for a ride! Luisa from Rise of the Sourdough Preacher challenged us to make Paris-Brest, a beautiful pastry celebrating the Paris-Brest bicycle race.

Sachertorte [Daring Bakers] :: Daily Candor

http://dailycandor.com/sachertorte-daring-bakers

I loved this month’s challenge. Years ago, I used to order sachertortes from the Hotel Sacher in Vienna and send them as gifts. They came in gorgeous wooden boxes, and their thick glaze prevented the chocolatey cake from drying out in transit. I was too intimidated to try to bake one myself, but that’s what Daring Bakers challenges are for, right? The October Daring Bakers’ challenge was brought to us by Korena of Korena in the Kitchen. Made for a terrific pastry experience. I didn’t strain out the...
