A View of the Web

A View of the Web. Mrs Weber's Middle School Social Studies Classroom. It's always an adventure! Tuesday, August 4, 2015. I can remember it as if it was yesterday. The excitement was constantly bubbling right at the surface of my emotions. Just waiting for someone to ask something, anything that would allow me to burst. Are you ready for your first year of teaching? What are you planning on doing the first day of school? How's your summer been? Her comment made me sad. The feeling of starting the year ag...

A View of the Web: Century of Progress: A Jouney to Become a Better Teacher

http://www.aviewoftheweb.blogspot.com/2013/02/century-of-progress-jouney-to-become.html

A View of the Web. Think Different. Do History. Monday, February 4, 2013. Century of Progress: A Jouney to Become a Better Teacher. It was over three years ago that I first received an email asking me to take part in a survey our education cooperative (ESSDACK) was needing for a grant project provided by the Teaching American History program. It would be called Century of Progress. I hate the word ". Automatically I got a yucky taste in my mouth. Submit lesson plans and allow for you to be videotaped.

A View of the Web. Think Different. Do History. Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Tips for Adding Writing to you Classroom: From a Non-Writing Teacher. I teach Social Studies. I was NOT trained on how to teach writing. At all. So, when I was told a few years ago that I needed to start incorporating more writing into my Social Studies classes, I panicked. How can I require kids to do something that I'm not even sure on how to grade it? Or what to actually require of them? Or what to actually say? Do it now....

A View of the Web. Think Different. Do History. Thursday, April 30, 2015. Want a fun way to teach (or review) the different types of governments with your students? PSif you're not using Pinterest yet to search for ideas for your classroom.what are you waiting for? It's not just a place to get recipe and craft ideas, there are some cool classroom activities, lesson plans, and organization strategies that can easily be modified to fit your needs. I found this little gem of an idea there earlier this year.

A View of the Web: Infographics

A View of the Web. Think Different. Do History. Friday, January 16, 2015. You plan a lesson, activity, or project that just hits all the right marks. Creativity. Technology. Content. Learning. And the kids deliver. They participate. They enjoy it. They learn. And that is how I started 2015 with my 8th graders. Throughout the summer, the basic idea of making an infographic grew. The project is this. The 8th graders at Cheney Middle School will create an infographic poster over social studies topics ta...

A View of the Web: Making Connections

http://www.aviewoftheweb.blogspot.com/2015/04/making-connections.html

A View of the Web. Think Different. Do History. Monday, April 6, 2015. I went to a Social Studies conference at the end of February. I have a love/hate relationship with professional development conferences. I hate, HATE to be gone from class. However, I love to collaborate with other social studies teachers and learn new strategies to use in the classroom. Workshops that end up being successful in my eyes are the ones where I can walk away and implement a new strategy or activity right away. Discussed i...

Weber Haus: April 2015

http://endlesschatter-jill.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Yep You read that title right. This post is about boobies. My three-year-old's obsession with boobies. I'm not exactly sure what caused the normal, toddler interest in my nursing Katerina (over A YEAR AGO) to balloon into non-stop booby-talk. But within the last couple weeks each one of these statements have exited her mouth in her loudest toddler voice. She asks me "why do you have big boobies mommy? So you can feed Kit Kat? I don't have big boobies.". View my complete profile.

Saturday, June 20, 2015. All the Dad's in my Life. I am one blessed lady. So are my girls. While some people struggle to have even one positive male figure in their lives, we have three. Here's a little tribute to them. The Father of my Children. Ethan. Daddy. Daddy for the second time. Same loving look. A daddy lesson. How to make S'mores. Seeshe looks just like her daddy, right down to those blues. I can't wait to see how their relationships continue to grow. That car seat swing! Beer can and duct tape&...

Weber Haus: Jackie's "Special Class"

http://endlesschatter-jill.blogspot.com/2015/06/jackies-special-class.html

Thursday, June 18, 2015. This was week three. Week three of Jackie's "Special Class.". We enrolled Jackie in a "Just 3's Gymnastics" class at the local YMCA starting in June. We go once a week. We figured this would be a good start. She has never done anything like this before. Let me say that again. Jackie has NEVER DONE ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. The closest she comes to structured class is. well. nothing. What is certain is that Jackie needs to learn structure in a "school-like" setting. She needs...

Weber Haus: October 2014

http://endlesschatter-jill.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 26, 2014. It's All Because of You. Something amazing hit me smack dab in the face the. Probably when my face was covered with pureed sweet potatoes thanks to the fun new trick our 6 month old (now almost 1-year-old) discovered of spitting her lips together just after getting a mouth full, and my ears could only hear the screaming of our two-year-old because I wouldn't let her color with the sidewalk chalk inside on our wood floors. I was probably still in PJs. at lunch. I love to find goo...

A view of the river | and other observations from Cambodia

A view of the river. And other observations from Cambodia. Asymp; Leave a comment. I am now into my final week in Phnom Penh. I delivered my final training session on Thursday, which went better than expected. The pace of work in the office has picked up a fair bit, but this sees me doing less as it is easier and faster for meeting to be conducted in Khmer, so it was nice to run training to an enthusiastic audience that showed my presence was still valued. Tuesday, October 09, 2007. Its official - I need glasses! I went to the optitions yesterday because I'd been getting headaches when cutting (basically doing anything related to my job that requires concentration), when I'm on the computer too long, driving too long etc. I decided to try and rule out the possibility of it being that I needed glasses. Glasses are sooooooooooo expensive! It's like 100 for the frames and then an extra 80 for the lenses to be put in! I have no idea how they get away with it!
