Down my garden path. A no-dig vegetable plot and a full-on flower garden. The planting plan in 2015. The rough plan in 2015. The rough plan in 2016. Days 43 to 46. May 3, 2015. All my little seeds are coming up – so exciting! Parsnip, leek, and onion. I make a lot of soup, mostly some variation of onion plus veg plus cumin or coriander, chilli, red lentils and coconut milk, based on this recipe. No point to soup unless you can stand a spoon up in it! So the tiny sprouts are all soup in potentia. Meanderi...

Some busy days in the garden, in glorious sunshine which is making the grass grow like billy-o and all the weeds come out to play, too. As well as the weeds, my seeds are sprouting beyootifully, with the broad beans now showing themselves above ground and the sugar snap peas elbowing their way over the centimetre mark.

February 2016 – A Barnsley Garden

https://abarnsleygarden.wordpress.com/2016/02

The above photograph shows one of the most charming and yet understated plants in the garden at the moment, Clematis cirrhosa var. purpurascens‘Freckles’. An evergreen and quite rampant climber, it flowers at various times from Autumn onwards. Mine is growing into a large conifer, rather than the usual recommended warm wall. This probably reduces the…. An alternate view of the world. Mulled no-wine →. December 21, 2013. This is my hubby’s choice and mixology skills and is taken from the book Preggatini’s: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be by Natalie Bovis-Nelsen . Oh and monkey is called Fred and belongs to my daughter 🙂. 1/4 glass of milk. 1 tbsp peanut butter. 1 scoop chocolate ice-cream. Blend all ingredients and serve. Edited to add: hubby’s on funky monkey no 2 and this time has added 1/2 a banana blitzed up in it. This entry was posted in Uncategorized.

So for the next 7 days as the countdown to Christmas begins I’m going to practice my mixology skills and the Christmas Mocktail Bar will be open. Each night I will make a different mocktail, take a snap and share the recipe. Just because I don’t drink doesn’t mean what I drink is dull🙂. This entry was posted in mocktails. Before ……. An alternate view of the world. Funky Monkey →. December 20, 2013. Today is Winter Solstice eve. In my favourite UK city, where I used to live, this is known as ‘Burning the Clocks’ ( https:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning of the Clocks. And is a good opportunity to celebrate and release things from the past year. As part of this celebration I have written a good-bye letter to alcohol which will be burned on our fire and I will toast my new found sobriety with this tasty mocktail🙂. Grenadine, to taste.

Home grown Christmas trees. December 18, 2016. This year the garden has given a seasonal gift. Down My Front | The random musings of a messy person…

The random musings of a messy person…. The random musings of a messy person…. Five a day the easy way. August 4, 2015. That other half of the (free) marrow looked accusingly at me this morning. “Use me up” it said. I found a recipe online for marrow curry so decided to give it a go this evening. Of course, I had to tinker with it and it ended up as a vegetable curry which allowed me to use up other veggies from the bottom of the fridge. Half a marrow chopped into chunks. Cheap, cheerful and delicious.

Down my lifes pathway. Sunday, September 14, 2008. Selfish bad tempered and use guilt and anger to get my way. This all came to light last night after I got ticked off and blew up at DH.
