Mothering, homeschooling, and me. March 3, 2013. By Growing Up Good. Which explains my absence on here for a bit. I am in the process of packing up our entire house, with three young kids attempting to help me out (one of which thinks I am leaving everytime he sees me grab a box, and therefore tries to get between me and the box, insisting that I pick him up). It’s been a bit stressful and has really taken a big bite out of my computer time. After 3 years of renting, we will finally be homeowners again!

Mothering, homeschooling, and me. April 19, 2013. By Growing Up Good. My last post was way back on March 3rd! That was 6 weeks ago (plus a couple days)! This move definitely took a lot out of me- physically, emotionally, mentally, you name it, it was was pushed to the limit. There were times I was ready to wave the white flag, but I made it through. Here’s the highlights of our home-buying journey. 7) The week before (mostly the 36 hours before) closing, my entire family my mom got an awful, awful stomac...
Art Day on the Driveway! | growing up good

Mothering, homeschooling, and me. Art Day on the Driveway! August 9, 2013. By Growing Up Good. I’ve had this idea in my head of an outside art day rotation, where I’ve got different stations set up and the kids rotate through them, adding on to the project that is already started (or starting a new one, if no one has been at that station yet). Here are the stations I set up:. Oil Pastels on paper. Painting w/ branches from a shrub. Painting Spider Webs w/ q tips on black paper. Bingo Dotters on paper.

The Rubles: January 2015
http://edandlisaruble.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2015. I signed us up for a fantastic Breakfast with Santa at WMU this year. Red velvet chocolate chip pancakes for the boys, a lovely room, friendly wait staff, and most importantly, an understanding Santa. The day started with me having to talk TJ out of wearing sweat pants- we compromised on jeans (though with a hole in the knee, I'm not sure those are much better than sweat pants! Jojo looks hesitant here because he had to be talked into eating the red pancakes. Kathy and I contin...

Sunday, June 28, 2015. The Ellestads, Swensons, Rhyans, and Santinis came to Kalamazoo for Easter this year. We had a full house and plenty of fun. Saturday afternoon we had an egg hunt. There were 7 little boys running around the yard! Checking out the loot. Seven cousins/second cousins under the age of 6:. Ben (7 months), Vince (5), James (2), Isaac (9 months), TJ (6), Jojo (3), Dominic (2). And yes, it was cold! The kids loved eating them! The next morning, the Easter bunny had come. The boys started ...
The Rubles: Random March pics

Saturday, June 27, 2015. All three boys sitting on Ed. Ben and I met Mom and Diane at Quilt Festival in Chicago. Each of the boys attended a quilt show before they turned one- I think I'm setting them up to be quilters! You can't see him in this photo- he's on Mom's back. He attracted as much attention as some of the quilts at the show! He did really well and was a pretty happy camper for most of the show. This is the scene Ben and I found when we returned home at 10 pm. Standing in the crib!
The Rubles: October 2014
http://edandlisaruble.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2014. Siscos come to visit. Ed's aunt and uncle visited us for a few days on their way to go camping and experience the fall colors in Michigan. It was wonderful to see them; unfortunately they had some cool and wet weather for camping! Ben snuggled right in with Aunt Mary Ann. And got some cuddle time with Uncle Mickey as well! Jojo and Mary Ann built a super high tower with the magnet tiles. Both we and the boys had a great time! Thursday, October 30, 2014. Kelly, Abbey and Ben.

Sunday, June 7, 2015. I finally switched Ben over from the baby bath tub to the real bath tub (purely laziness on my part.it's so much easier to bathe him on the counter, but he was getting too big and splashing too much! Love his eyes in this pic! Jojo wanted to help. He loves helping with Ben, and also really wanted to get in the bath with him. I convinced him not to- I really like having the bigger boys take showers with Ed instead! Reading with Miss Nancy:. Ben loves the Johnny Jump-Up! More birthday...
The Rubles: Holy Birthday Batman, TJ's 6!
http://edandlisaruble.blogspot.com/2015/06/holy-birthday-batman-tjs-6.html
Monday, June 8, 2015. Holy Birthday Batman, TJ's 6! On Saturday, we had a Batman-themed party. Decorations courtesy of Grammy (masks) and Pat (signs). More on the cake later. Posing with the cake and cousins. It was a Batman shirt/superhero cape day! Pat's birthday is the day after TJ's, so we always celebrate both. Note Pat's homemade Batman logo on his shirt. Here they're singing to each other. Bat babies attacking Ed. Grammy and Buppa and the boys. TJ is already working on themes for next year. :).
The Rubles: Fun in the snow: sledding and skiing
http://edandlisaruble.blogspot.com/2015/06/fun-in-snow-sledding-and-skiing.html
Saturday, June 13, 2015. Fun in the snow: sledding and skiing. We had another winter of fantastic snow this year- easily 2 feet on the ground from early January through early March. I think Thomas had 8 or 9 snow/cold/ice days- fewer than last year. We spend plenty of time sledding, and even better this year, skiing! Jojo and TJ sledding with Nancy. Most days Thomas got off the bus and then played in the snow for a half hour or so. They also did plenty of their old favorite, penguin sledding:. Thomas and...

Wednesday, April 29, 2015. We spend Christmas this year in North Carolina at Tom and Alice's house. With Ben added to the mix, we now number 18! Frosting cookies with Grandma. All dressed up for Christmas Eve mass- Grandma and Grandpa and the 10 grandkids! If this group gets any bigger we might need a wide-angle lens! Our annual tradition: making dumplings for Christmas Eve paprikash! Another tradition, dating back to when Mary Beth was a baby- Tom reading 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. Eli had matchi...

Wednesday, June 24, 2015. St Patrick's Day Green. St Patrick's Day often gets lost in the shuffle of March Madness and Bros and Dads/Moms and Boys weekend. But we did get some green on! I'm quite proud that I was able to dig out the "Baby's 1st St. Patrick's Day" bib TJ received as a newborn! This is his "I want to crawl" pose. Ben sporting adorable shoes Mom got him when he was born, as well as the turtle cuff overalls I bought when I was pregnant with TJ. I'm a big boy! Family and Friends' Blogs.

Growing Up Goodwin | I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4
The Start of Something. The Start of Something. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Isaiah 46:4. The Start of Something. March 10, 2015. I haven’t blogged in quite some time. I was kinda over it. I was kinda over. Of things. The last year of our lives was a game changer. Well I am back. This time, I am blogging as more of a method to hold myself accountable to the tangible changes I want to make in my life. Less about. And more about the. Is doing in me.

The Mall in Florence, shopping in Tuscany. Mar 18, 2018. When I knew for sure that I would be traveling to Italy. I knew that I’d be getting a new handbag. You see, years ago… before we had children… Doug and I took a trip to Italy. Doug even rented a car and drove me through Tuscany and out to the tiny Luxury Outlet Mall. And I now get several questions a month about whether the trip to The Mall in Florence is worth it. So yes, it’s worth a trip to The Mall if you are in or around Florence. As...I talke...
Growing Up Gorman
Welcoming a second child into this world was easy; raising an infant and a toddler together is a totally different story. Friday, June 14, 2013. Nope, not me. But thanks for the memories. I think it was the summer of 7. Last night, as the 1980s boy band reunited for a Package Tour in the same East Rutherford location, I must sadly admit that I was there. 8220;So we’re really doing this? This is surely going to suck. But then Boyz II Men came out and killed it. Bended Knee, Water Runs Dry, Motown Phil...
