Rome Ramblings: 2/4/07 - 2/11/07
http://romeramblings2007.blogspot.com/2007_02_04_archive.html
A blog about what I'm doing in Rome. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and write it down accurately enough. After making this post I went to the Vatican with Anne and Vanessa. I'll be slowly posting the pictures, as posting pictures takes a good amount of time. Highlights of the vsit include going past John Paul's Tomb (no pictures allowed), seeing the Pieta (behind bulletproof glass), and going to mass at St. Peter's Basilica. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Away In Italy: Shopping Trip and Mental Glory
http://romesemesterspring2007.blogspot.com/2007/01/shopping-trip-and-mental-glory.html
Long time no blog. the stories of a girl doing her school work in Rome. Sunday, January 28, 2007. Shopping Trip and Mental Glory. All three frowned and shook their heads and each related a personal story about feeling as if they were about to puke and how they still felt that their stomachs were full of vodka. Sighing and shaking my head, I did not respond, obtained my food, and wandered back to the bus. He could have at least given me a nice salad or something” was her response. We only just met! 8220;I...

Away In Italy: Life Goes On, as does the Vatican
http://romesemesterspring2007.blogspot.com/2007/02/life-goes-on-as-does-vatican.html
Long time no blog. the stories of a girl doing her school work in Rome. Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Life Goes On, as does the Vatican. We exited the crypt and walked around the back of the basilica and entered from the front into a gargantuan space that contained so many artistic details that we stood in the door way for at least a minute attempting to decide which way to go first. I do have a few more things to talk about but I think this is enough for one post. Don’t want anyone to get too con...

Japonisme: June 2010
http://katejaponisme.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
The influences of Japan on a girl from the West. Tuesday, June 22, 2010. In Hartford, Hereford, and Hampshire, Hurricanes Hardly Happen. There are certain days where my life feels like this scene in My Fair Lady. Or more precisely, the part preceding it, which leads to Higgins slumped over his desk and Colonel Pickering with a newspaper over his head. Or while trying to impress on them how exactly to pronounce comfortable. Naturally. (It turns into com-for-ta-ble. And went on to monkey. And what word did...

Japonisme: All good things...
http://katejaponisme.blogspot.com/2011/08/all-good-things.html
The influences of Japan on a girl from the West. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. I've never been very good at finishing things. I am very good at starting things; I wax poetic about new ideas, new ventures, dreams I am just embarking on. But when it comes time to conclude such things, I find I am at a standstill; surprised, and lost for words. My time in Japan shaped who I am and who I want to become. Doesn't that, in and of itself, deserve some sort of resolution? It was said sweetly enough to not be condesce...

Japonisme: Clarke's Third Law
http://katejaponisme.blogspot.com/2010/10/clarkes-third-law.html
The influences of Japan on a girl from the West. Tuesday, October 5, 2010. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic Arthur C. Clarke. When I was a little girl, I used to explore my grandparent's basement. He had been collecting them since the late 60's. Lined up in a bookcase, a chronological archive of the last 30 years of scientific achievement and discovery. I used to browse them, and I remember the day I found the December 1969 issue. Man Walks on Another World. But in spa...

Japonisme: January 2010
http://katejaponisme.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
The influences of Japan on a girl from the West. Friday, January 8, 2010. Happy New Year, David Robert Jones. Appy New Year, one and all! I actually can't believe it's ten years into the 21st century. I rang in 2010 with an air of incredulity. Let alone a decade ago? Of course, at the tender age of 14, the future to me never really went beyond that weekend. Thailand itself was nothing short of magnificent, and worthy of a post of its own. (Hopefully within a few days time.) Not only was it a trul...But m...
