Rome Ramblings

A blog about what I'm doing in Rome. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and write it down accurately enough. Leaving Bulgaria today. We stayed at a friend from AU's place. Hristo is from Sohpia and kindly let us sleep in a spare room he had in his apartment. While here we ate great Bulgarian cheese, got rained upon several times, and visited the beautiful Rila Monestary in the mountains. So, Madrid and Santorini down, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Germany to go. Madrid was a lot of fun. I ate some form of ro...

Rome Ramblings: 2/18/07 - 2/25/07

http://www.romeramblings2007.blogspot.com/2007_02_18_archive.html

A blog about what I'm doing in Rome. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and write it down accurately enough. Its been a bit since I've posted, but oh well. This past weekend, I was feeling a bit lacking in American things, so I went over to Hard Rock cafe. On the way to this bastion of American food, I had to go by the Treve fountain, the Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps. I felt ancient rome shunning me the whole way. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A blog about what I'm doing in Rome. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and write it down accurately enough. Today was a classic Roman day. Woke up and waited for the bus to take me to the Vatican.and waited.and waited. Toured around the Vatican museum with a friend of Anne's, and the guy at the ticket desk was so bored out of his mind that he didn't care we were obviously not Italian or EU students, so we got a 5 Euro break on ticket prices. Thank God for Italians, little cars, and no alarm systems.

A blog about what I'm doing in Rome. Hopefully I'll remember most of it and write it down accurately enough. After making this post I went to the Vatican with Anne and Vanessa. I'll be slowly posting the pictures, as posting pictures takes a good amount of time. Highlights of the vsit include going past John Paul's Tomb (no pictures allowed), seeing the Pieta (behind bulletproof glass), and going to mass at St. Peter's Basilica. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). La Dolce Vita: aprile 2007

http://katedolcevita.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html

A clichè title for a once in a lifetime experience. Take me home, country roads. So it has taken me this long to write, really, because I needed to organize my thoughts. Writing is one of the few things I have always been able to do, even when I have been extremely upset, but this event has left me without words. It's the song I throw onto my car stereo every time I cross into Virginia on 81. It makes me think of traveling home. And it's funny how, in such a time, Blacksburg has come to feel like...Becau...

La Dolce Vita: Never visit the Ara Pacis

http://katedolcevita.blogspot.com/2007/02/never-visit-ara-pacis.html

A clichè title for a once in a lifetime experience. Never visit the Ara Pacis. One of the many lessons I've learned since I've last put something up, and it has been sometime. Prepare yourself for a long post. So its almost been two weeks since I last posted. How the hell did that happen? For one with too many opinions and a penchant for making them known (almost annoyingly so), how did I go so long without writing an entry? And then the shopping. Oh the leather! I visited last week, and not only did one...

La Dolce Vita: maggio 2007

http://katedolcevita.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

A clichè title for a once in a lifetime experience. Unless laughter could be said to remedy anything. So it's four days and counting. Which has left me screaming and frieking and slightly insane. Let me just say, I'm real fun to be around right now. But truthfully, it's so little amount of time and there is so much I want to do that I end up doing absolutely nothing at all. Which is oh so much better. After four months of forcing myself to cook twice a day, I actually learned how to use a kitchen! Now, m...

La Dolce Vita: I am in love...

http://katedolcevita.blogspot.com/2007/03/i-am-in-love.html

A clichè title for a once in a lifetime experience. I am in love. With a white, off the shoulder baby doll dress. And it is beautiful. I will blame Becky and her equal passion for nice clothing (especially if it's from Zara) for my desire. Going down Via del Corso with her was my best time shopping here, despite the fact I didn't buy a thing. So anyone wishing to doante to the "Kate wants new pretty clothing" fund can feel free to send money. But yet it does feel normal, despite the fact my location is a...

Away In Italy: Shopping Trip and Mental Glory

http://romesemesterspring2007.blogspot.com/2007/01/shopping-trip-and-mental-glory.html

Long time no blog. the stories of a girl doing her school work in Rome. Sunday, January 28, 2007. Shopping Trip and Mental Glory. All three frowned and shook their heads and each related a personal story about feeling as if they were about to puke and how they still felt that their stomachs were full of vodka. Sighing and shaking my head, I did not respond, obtained my food, and wandered back to the bus. He could have at least given me a nice salad or something” was her response. We only just met! 8220;I...

Away In Italy: Life Goes On, as does the Vatican

http://romesemesterspring2007.blogspot.com/2007/02/life-goes-on-as-does-vatican.html

Long time no blog. the stories of a girl doing her school work in Rome. Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Life Goes On, as does the Vatican. We exited the crypt and walked around the back of the basilica and entered from the front into a gargantuan space that contained so many artistic details that we stood in the door way for at least a minute attempting to decide which way to go first. I do have a few more things to talk about but I think this is enough for one post. Don’t want anyone to get too con...

La Dolce Vita: gennaio 2007

http://katedolcevita.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

A clichè title for a once in a lifetime experience. Random thoughts on the Tram. So the impossible has happened; I finally saw an attractive Roman man. It only took two and half weeks. I think it comes down to that Euro trash look mixed with the intense catcalling. And the way they troll the typically American bars looking for American girls, just kind of circling like vultures. It just sends shivers down your spine. And this is what I have been getting from Roman men. I should just stick to walking.
