Candy Sushi Teen Program. January 31, 2014. All the colors of the rainbow. We had a great program the other night for teens and tweens at my library: CANDY SUSHI! It was so cool to watch everyone come up with different designs for their sushi. We put out lots of candy, I mean LOTS. The ingredients were:. Fruit roll ups (to be the nori). Rice Krispy treats (to be the rice). Airheads Xtremes (a flexible length of rainbow sour/sweet candy). A gag gift but still fun! Blog at WordPress.com.

A reference match made in heaven. March 22, 2015. Our library has gotten rid of much of the reference collection, which simply wasn’t being used. We also took some titles we thought were too useful to discard and put them in our circulating collection. The jury is still out on those newly-circulating books. But occasionally I can get patrons to give the reference collection a try. Oldest Book Scavenger Hunt. August 23, 2014. I started by searching our staff side of the OPAC. Larr; Oldest Book Scavenger Hunt. Teen Book Club – The Fault in Our Stars. July 25, 2014. I wish I could be involved in these library projects or get something like this for my library one day! The Great Reading Adventure. Is an online summer reading program that trumps our current online software (Evanced’s Summer Reader) in almost every way. The design is cool, the features are awesome, and it’s much more interactive. I hope to use this in the future at my library! Chicago City of Learning. Build a web...

Teen Summer Reading 2015. September 2, 2015. Here are the results of my second year of doing a Teen Summer Reading Challenge! A reference match made in heaven. March 22, 2015. We have a series called “American Decades.” It lists major events and their dates. Then it breaks down into categories like the arts or health and medicine, and lists headlines, people and more. It was a PERFECT match! Oldest Book Scavenger Hunt. August 23, 2014. They were doing a scavenger hunt put together by friends and family&#...

Oldest Book Scavenger Hunt. August 23, 2014. Two young adults came into the library today looking for the oldest book we own. Cool question! They were doing a scavenger hunt put together by friends and family. How was I going to find what they were looking for? Pere Goirot and Eugenie Grandet. By Honore de Balzac, published in 1834. That got me thinking, though. What about the Bible or other prominent religious texts? What about Shakespeare or Homer? 8221;, “Who wrote the first book? June 5, 2014. May&#8...

Look out, honey, 'cause I'm using technology. July 16, 2015. Vacation reading and July TBR check-in. In my book, vacations of any sort include reading. (Though this is not the case for everyone; recently, I was stunned to learn that a fellow librarian was traveling to Europe. Without a single book. I was actually struck speechless.
