St Anna’s is a home and school for children in Winebba, Ghana. It was set up to provide a comfortable home and family environment for abandoned and orphaned children, and as a primary school for poorer children from the surrounding region. Gabby and Lara formed the idea of building a house where some of these children could live, and which could then also be a school for poorer children from the surrounding area. The Children of St Anna’s come from many different backgrounds but have all suffered hardship and poverty. Sadly some arrived in a very poor state of health but since moving to St Anna’s the children they have made real progress; their health has improved and they are now a merry little band of children. The Wintershall charity black-tie picnic concerts famously attract an all-star line-up and have raised several million pounds. So far for charity but they are a rare treat; the last one was staged in 2011 when the Hutley Family once again. Opened the grounds of their home on the Wintershall Estate to an invitation only audience. Gary Brooker was the musical director of the prestigious charity black-tie picnic concert.

St Anna's Children's Home. We need your help to house and educate needy Children in Ghana. How? A great number of children in. Rural Ghana are homeless and growing up on the streets. They and many more are missing out on a good education. We built St Anna's in 2009, creating a home for 10 homeless and abandoned children. World War II had just ended and thousands of soldiers that fought their way through Europe and the Pacific were returning home after four long years of war. They wanted to pick up their lives where they had left off before answering their nation’s call to duty. One of their passions was the opportunity to return to the hunting and fishing traditions they had enjoyed as young men-and so the St. Anna Sportsman’s Club was born in 1946.
