No looking back, no so here’s what I’ve been doing for the last seven months. Sometimes one just has to dive back in or it can’t be done. I am making headway. Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make money. Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? It’s easy to be arroga...

I just hope the seafood places are still open. No hurricane comes between me an’ my shrimp. Oh, and my grandparents have no internet, so it’s cell phone only until Monday. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Occasionally updated bits of non-interest. The premises of the dormouse. October 5, 2010 by Tuppence. Kate DiCamillo is going to be at the Regulator. In Durham on the 17th, and I won’t be here. Bother! This is what happens when I book every weekend either with money-making or gallivanting schemes. I am now master of the tandem tummy-rub, although I’m somewhat lacking in synchronized fetch. Carrying a big stick not required. You are currently browsing the monthly archive for March 2009. March 26, 2009 in Uncategorized. I was not happy to see fog this morning, I’m not going to lie. Before I got up I could hear the cars sushing by on Polo, and groaned a little into the pillow. The dripping maple outside my window accompanied teeth-brushing, and I resigned myself to dampness as I pulled on a fleece. March 19, 2009 in Uncategorized. Hey y’all, I’m back…. Carrying a big stick not required. It’s official…. March 26, 2010 in Uncategorized. I have two campus visits scheduled at top-notch DC Schools: Georgetown Day School, and Highland School in Northern Virginia. As much as one can tell about people from a 30 minute interview, I think I’d be happy working with either of their faculty. This has been a really good day, and it’s not even 5 PM. Fabulous. Phew. Ready for a beer. On a related note, the professional website is now live. Click here.

Carrying a big stick not required. You are currently browsing the monthly archive for December 2009. Recipe for a Smile. December 27, 2009 in Uncategorized. It was 22 degrees F this morning at 7 AM. And the sun was still asleep, and my thought upon hearing the alarm was that I should be, too. My number one symptom of being really down is wanting more sleep. Not needing it (although I can usually convince myself I do), but wanting it. Wanting to just roll back over and let the world slide past. And the su...

Carrying a big stick not required. January 31, 2010 in Uncategorized. Things that make me happy:. A fast-paced southern college town slowed down by 4 inches of white. Sidewalks pressed smooth by hundreds of pairs of feet, still clean, sparkling silver under street lights. Cold sharp enough to nullify the best efforts of road salt and liberate a campus for snowball fights and sledding and wild games of capture the flag. Comments feed for this article. On thursday the father of one of my students, himself a prolific ghostwriter, asked me about the book. i told him i was rewriting a significant part of the middle. And he said, sort of abruptly, “are you one of those writers who never finishes anything? Mw was outraged when i told her. “why? Because it’s not enough to hear it from yourself on an endless loop? I will probably never know whether everything is layering on top and on top and top.
