Woodchuck Acres: Starting to feel like summer

http://woodchuckacres.blogspot.com/2009/06/starting-to-feel-like-summer.html

Sunday, June 21, 2009. Starting to feel like summer. There is something in the air, a shift in temperature and humidity and universal vibe, that occurs in June and that makes us say, "NOW it feels like summer! It is still not brutally hot or suffocatingly humid, but it is also no longer springlike out there. Or maybe it is the firecrackers. The latest love of my life is this:. The daylilies are starting to bloom. This is Stella:. My love/hate relationship continues with my neighbor's mulberry tree. I...

Woodchuck Acres: Who needs television?

http://woodchuckacres.blogspot.com/2008/12/who-needs-television.html

Saturday, December 20, 2008. A "free" day can hang on some like a burden, but not me. On the one hand, it's an opportunity to do nothing, and I'm always up for that. On the other, why waste it? My free day included a project, a chore, and an emergency. The original plans for the new room included a spot for the litter box, but I did not want it out in the open. Enter the "cat washroom" from Plow and Hearth. It arrived the other day, but some (all) assembly was required. But what the hey. Now, the chore.

Woodchuck Acres: Aye, aye, admiral

http://woodchuckacres.blogspot.com/2015/06/aye-aye-admiral.html

Thursday, June 25, 2015. Aye, aye, admiral. Some years there are butterflies in my yard, and some years there aren't. This year we have a plethora of Red Admirals, aka Vanessa cardui. Linnaeus). I read somewhere that they like thistle blossoms, which is too bad; last weekend we frantically yanked up all the Canada thistle because it was starting to bloom. Fortunately, Red Admirals like other flowers as well, including Scabiosa (I think this is 'Butterfly Blue'). Never a welcome sight. Aye, aye, admiral.

Woodchuck Acres: Plans for 2010

http://woodchuckacres.blogspot.com/2009/12/plans-for-2010.html

Thursday, December 31, 2009. Once upon a time, there was something on the web about achieving 101 things in 1001 days. I may even have such a list somewhere. In lieu of that list, I give you this list of 30 things in 240 days (or there abouts). These are above and beyond the usual yard and garden chores, and yet finite and doable. I think. And I still have to decide what home improvement project to undertake, but it is difficult for me to even think about that when last year's is not yet finished. 18 Pla...

Between Rome and Paradise: FINALLY!

http://betweenromeandparadise.blogspot.com/2014/12/finally.html

Wednesday, December 17, 2014. I didn't sleep well the night before last, just could not drift off (damn that five o'clock cup of coffee), but since I am RETIRED, I made up for the difference by sleeping in. Consequently, I was still in my pj's when the contractor called to say they were on their way. Wha'? The week before, the paint-and-ceiling crew came and fixed one join in the crown molding that I was willing to live with but that really bothered the owner of the contracting company; he's tall and it ...

Bitten by Knittin'...: Thought process

http://bittenbyknittin.blogspot.com/2015/03/thought-process.html

Thursday, March 12, 2015. Even though I am not knitting DK boot socks right now, I like to have a pair of socks on the needles at all times. At first, I picked out the pattern for Errant Socks (from Mason-Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines. But since I had already started the toe, I stayed with the more rounded one from the Errant Socks pattern. Does this make sense? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Between Rome and Paradise. Bitten by Knittin'...: I Hate Borders

http://bittenbyknittin.blogspot.com/2007/01/i-hate-borders.html

Thursday, January 25, 2007. To be my favorite store. Books, music, coffee - what more could a body want? Well, last night I discovered that a little organization would be nice. What happened was this: Upon the recommendation of forum readers at Knitter's Review. I went in search of. Borders' online inventory indicated it was in stock, and I checked again when I got to the store. But, even with two of us looking, we could not find the book. I don't like Barnes and Noble. October Rose: A resolution with a plan for 2015

http://octoberrose.blogspot.com/2015/01/a-resolution-with-plan-for-2015.html

The rest of my life. Thursday, January 01, 2015. A resolution with a plan for 2015. When I retired from my job (which, by the way, I do NOT miss at all), I decided not to take on anything new for at least six months. That turned out to be a good thing, as the final remodeling of the house was underway and continued to be underway for what seemed like an eternity. Once that was complete. I settled into what I had planned to do all along during retirement. And very soon became a bit bored. Monday evening, ...

October Rose: To sleep, perchance to sleep

http://octoberrose.blogspot.com/2009/09/to-sleep-perchance-to-sleep.html

The rest of my life. Friday, September 18, 2009. To sleep, perchance to sleep. The new mattress was delivered last Saturday morning. Good-bye, saggy pillow top, hello Therapedic New Castle! Already my back feels better. I also can sleep on my left side without feeling like my lungs are being compressed, something I have not done for quite some time now; I blamed my scoliosis but I guess it was just the mattress. I hope not, because now that the new mattress smell has dissipated, I am liking it. A lot.

October Rose: Homewrecker

http://octoberrose.blogspot.com/2015/07/homewrecker.html

The rest of my life. Saturday, July 11, 2015. I've been calling the cat-with-no-name. Beau", which rhymes with "NO! Some days, Finn and Beau get along fine. October Rose: A cat with no name

http://octoberrose.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-cat-with-no-name.html

The rest of my life. Saturday, May 16, 2015. A cat with no name. I don't miss having a dog, but I do miss Betsy. Finn is a wonderful cat, but he stays out all night and sleeps all day, so sometimes it is like not having a cat at all. Hence, I was weak when I met the cat formerly known as Mr. B. They call me MISTER Banks. A friend of a friend of my daughter's found Finn. A friend of a friend of my son's found Mr. B. October Rose: Work-life balance when there is no work

http://octoberrose.blogspot.com/2015/04/work-life-balance-when-there-is-no-work.html

The rest of my life. Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Work-life balance when there is no work. Joining the Wild Walkers. Was a good idea, but lately Grandma duty has interfered. So far, this has been fine with me, as I have discovered I am a "fair weather" hiker. Saturday, March 21, 2015. I took (another) tumble. A couple of weeks ago. Injuries include a sprained wrist, so I rested it until the swelling went down.
