Reflections on facing fears, living life, being brave. Thursday, May 29, 2014. Be Kickin' it Off. But I was asked to officiate a wedding for a dear family that I used to serve in my former church and I couldn’t turn it down. Doing this wedding is an honor and it’s also helping to pay for my bike transportation to Arizona in November, so I had to find another half iron to race. Monday, May 26, 2014. Simple. “. Kristina all smiles :). Only 5k left to go! Running up the hill! Tuesday, May 13, 2014. But to d...

Reflections on facing fears, living life, being brave. Friday, October 24, 2014. Be Training like a Pro…Kinda…Part 2. Caveat: I am not, nor do I think I will ever be an actual professional athlete. That being said, it’s kind of fun to get to train like one. After some fuel and rest, I took off for the pool. After my tough workout there, I was walking to my car, tired and hungry, and almost walking into another guy. I totally wasn’t paying attention! Day 6 included a swim. Just a swim. And I was g...I tur...

Be Brave: December 2014
http://ironamy.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Reflections on facing fears, living life, being brave. Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Be Loved (because you are). When my friend Ann arrived in town to be with me she brought cards that had been passed on to her to deliver from friends and churches I once served. THAT was pretty amazing. Made me feel connected and reminded me that I hadn’t been forgotten. A few of the items Mikaila had sent me:. Face wipes (perfect….so helpful! Feminine fun products (helpful beyond measure……). A new water bottle (YES! Being...

Reflections on facing fears, living life, being brave. Monday, April 28, 2014. Red Bull and Bananas! There were many dreams and hopes in the hearts of my fellow runners. Some were running their very first marathon ever, some were hoping for a PR, some were hoping to finish strong and have fun, some were hoping to race fast enough to have a BQ time and some were running to push their fellow runners along….lots of reasons to run! So speedy I barely go a picture of him! Way to go Sullivan! Did you wimp out?

Be Brave: February 2016
http://ironamy.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html
Reflections on facing fears, living life, being brave. Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Be Smacked Upside the Head. On long car trips to see my orthodontist as a teenager, I got bored (yeah, the doc wasn’t local). My dad used to tell me a lengthy “joke.”. At the heavenly pearly gates, this woman met St. Peter and was distraught. She was led into heaven and came into the presence of God, so upset for her tragic end. “How could you let me die like that? You didn’t warn us of the flood! What more did you need?

Be Brave: July 2014

Reflections on facing fears, living life, being brave. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Be Doin' the Y-M-C-A. But the race was on and mentally I can admit I was still a bit unfocused leading up into the race and it was all about fear. I was afraid of the swim and as the day got closer, I was nervous about the weather forecast. Big storms predicted. Oh well, suck it up buttercup, right? And honestly the extra time could have been my own piss-poor sighting skills. Out and into transition! Off we go on the bike!

I tried to let it out of my mind….had to get in anyway, right? Met up with some Balanced Tri/MIT gals and kept my cool for a while. Then it was time to line up. Peed in my wetsuit on the beach. That warmed things up a bit! 8221; “Really? 8221; I thought. “I can still do that? 8221; I said to him. “Yep, you’ve trained ...I was off on ...
