BABSBLOG: July 2014

Wednesday, July 30, 2014. A SIMPLE Task - Installing a Doorbell in Mexico. When I first moved into this house fourteen years ago, there was a doorbell with a wire that went to the button on the outside wall of the house. It died long ago. After it died, I would have to drive to Home Depot in either Queretaro or Celaya to get a new wireless bell. I couldn't fix the answering machine. I bought a new door bell battery and thought I had fixed the doorbell. If I pushed the button while it was still in the hou...

http://babsofsanmiguel.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 28, 2014. I'm exhaling today as Julie's byopsy reports came back all clear. All is well. NO chemo or radiation necessary. Doctor said he doesn't even need to see her for six months! Halleleuia. What a relief! Saturday, August 23, 2014. Guest House Rental - Follow up post. I'm using someone elses computer. I've tried to add things to the previous post about the guest house being available but for some reason it will not let me edit the post. I've tried everything. All the News of the Week!

BABSBLOG: A Hop, Skip and Jump
http://babsofsanmiguel.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-hop-skip-and-jump.html
Thursday, May 07, 2015. A Hop, Skip and Jump. I was so shocked at the coolness of the weather that I think that was all I could comment about for about four hours. What a pleasant surprise. I've been whittling the "Houston list" down little by little. Yesterday I found an almost brand new Samsonite suitcase at Goodwill for $5USD to take all these purchases back to San Miguel! Thank you Vandy for sharing that story! Ill be back before you know it to continue my session on your computer.ha. Barbara, Ive al...

Thursday, January 29, 2015. Roof terrace furnishings in San Miguel.delivered. I've been doing a little design consulting with some friends on minor matters such as new dining room chairs to go with the new round glass dining table they recently purchased. Also, some rearranging of furnishings and adding some accent tables here and there. Yesterday was a fun day. I took them to a chair manufacturer to look at the different styles that he makes. Then when I mentioned that I had known either his aunt or gra...

BABSBLOG: A Few Days of Photos
http://babsofsanmiguel.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-few-days-of-photos.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. A Few Days of Photos. No, these aren't photos of all of the altars of the Virgen of Sorrow. Nor are these photos of the Palm Sunday Processions. They are always magnificent, but, this weekend was different. I just didn't make it down to them. I've been on the sidelines of those activities with other, more family oriented things, going on. They somehow had commandeered a little plastic bike. For hours they played on this thing, all three of them. I take winds and curves through und...

BABSBLOG: November 2014
http://babsofsanmiguel.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. The Week That Was. There was a lot of scuttlebutt about what was going to happen on November 20th, The Anniversary of the 1910 Revolution. In view of the missing 43 students, protests were happening in other places. What would happen here? Later that evening there was a peaceful vigil in front of the Parroquia around 8PM with candles and many people. I wasn't there, hence, no photographs. Uh oh, I knew what that meant. Next morning it was 26F on the downstairs patio! Now Velcro...

BABSBLOG: I'm Up, Up and Away
http://babsofsanmiguel.blogspot.com/2015/04/im-up-up-and-away.html
Sunday, April 26, 2015. I'm Up, Up and Away. But, not in a hot air balloon. This photo was taken one Sunday morning. It is highly unusual to see this many hot air balloons at one time. It was around Easter. Many tourists willing to pay the bucks to have. This experience. For me, just photographing it is enough. Off I go for several weeks. Returning just in time for the arrival of new tenants for the guest house and the rainy season. Two good things. It is going to be a rip roaring good time. Old frie...

BABSBLOG: December 2014
http://babsofsanmiguel.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 28, 2014. Even though it is December in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The gardens don't seem to be aware that it is winter! The lemon tree is covered with lemons, as always. And, the flowers are blooming in profusion. Green, green, green with a splashes of yellow, red and soft pink. Enjoy! The cross is the construction cross that is installed on a property at the completion of building by the builders. They are not fancy, but meaningful. Friday, December 26, 2014. What a delightful surp...

Friday, October 31, 2014. Happy Halloween from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico! It has been years and years since I have celebrated Halloween in San Miguel. My friend Dawn used to have a big costume party. It was always fun to go and see all the time grown adults spent in making costumes. The above photos make me chuckle! In the photo of Matilda, its so cute to see how she is holding her hand. Oh my, she's only 6! Such a sweet child. This picture says it all! Happy Halloween Everyone. Tomorrow begins t...
