California Institute of Rocking Out: Run-Walk Method

http://runbikethink.blogspot.com/2009/06/run-walk-method.html

California Institute of Rocking Out. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. My sister recently sent me this article. From the NYT. I feel like I was talking to one of y'all recently about this. Is this guy full of shit or what? Part of me agrees that, for older folks or overweight folks, taking walk breaks is a great idea - it is lower impact and probably keeps you running at a faster pace when you're running, and keeps you out for longer amounts of time. What do you guys think? For people running for fitness, it really...

California Institute of Rocking Out: Nova On Marathoning

http://runbikethink.blogspot.com/2010/03/nova-on-marathoning.html

California Institute of Rocking Out. Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Nova recently ran an episode on marathon running wherein they hosted a reality-tv-like challenge to see if they could take 12 non-athletes and train them to run a marathon. While this episode doesn't go as deep into the science of running and physiology as we might desire, it was still somewhat interesting. Http:/ www.hulu.com/watch/63726/nova-marathon-challenge. California Institute of Rocking Out. Thursday, June 25, 2009. Will Leer Hits the Big Time. Will Leer is finally getting some love from LetsRun.com. They predict him to be third in his heat at the national championships, one slot ahead of Webb. No more asking whether his Trials victory was a "fluke," eh? Congratulations to this national-class runner who was a low 16's 5K runner in high school! Video of Leers heat win. Anyone want to meet up in front of a television at 2:31pm tomorrow? California Institute of Rocking Out: It's time to talk about running barefoot.

http://runbikethink.blogspot.com/2009/12/its-time-to-talk-about-running-barefoot.html

California Institute of Rocking Out. Wednesday, December 9, 2009. It's time to talk about running barefoot. Yes, Julian is mentioned in this article. We all have heard about "Born to Run" and listened to Julian's encouragements. What are your thoughts regarding barefoot running? Here are two of mine (based merely on hearsay and speculation):. 3 Running on grassy fields feels great until you are stung by a bee. Ditto about the bee. I had that happen to me once on the south field and it was awful. Agreed&#...

Runner with a Running Problem: September 2011

Runner with a Running Problem. Running, Lasing, Lazing, Cycling, and Drinking in no particular order. Accountability: Week of 9/12/2011 - 9/18. Weekly Total: 35.1. Spent all day writing O-chem problems for a dental school admissions test prep. Went out for a short jog in the evening. Surprised that my legs aren't hurting more after running all week (pathetic as it may sound). How do all of my runs end up around the same distance? And stopped to stretch for about 5 minutes. Woke up after 12 hours of much ...

Tuesday - still felt like shit. jogged less. Wednesday - Been beat up more psychologically than mentally, i think. Convinced myself to run 5-6ish. Thursday - Ran about 4 miles. I don't know what this funk I've been in is. I feel like I really need to stretch more too, maybe that will help. Didn't have much time, super easy 3. Baldwin,5.6 Miles.

Runner with a Running Problem. Running, Lasing, Lazing, Cycling, and Drinking in no particular order. Get ready for my race on Saturday. Thursday, 9/20: 3.0 miles. Chill shake out. Wednesday, 9/19: 7.2 miles. Ran along ballona creek path to overland and up to veteran park. Did 4x200 at 35, 34, 31, 31. These felt rather exhausting for the speed. Maybe it was trying to go fast on grass in flats, or maybe i'm just slow. Whatever. Jogged home. Tuesday, 9/18: 6.9 miles. Felt ok, didn't take it too hard.
