Adventures of an Alberg 30 named Salacia and her crew. Boat - Alberg 30. Saturday, July 4, 2015. Alberg 30 Refit: Happy 4th of July 2015. Happy 4th of July! Happy Independence Day, America! On to boat work update:. This what I started with yesterday, a scraped starboard side. And this is how the boat looked after about 4 hrs of sanding! I have question all you Good Old Boat guys, there appears to be a red gelcoat stripe all the way around the boat at the original waterline? Because I did not want to get ...

Adventures of an Alberg 30 named Salacia and her crew. Boat - Alberg 30. Thursday, May 21, 2015. Alberg 30 Refit: Bottom paint removal. That small white area is where I started. Small pin holes and the funny looking pattern immediately had me concerned. Sanded a small area, the odd pattern and pin holes seemed to be wide spread. Can of worms opened! This is the area I sanded. Almost 2 hours of nasty work. This is a close-up of what I found. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. What do you think? Alberg 30s on YouTube.

Adventures of Salacia: Alberg 30 refit: Dimples on her bottom

Adventures of an Alberg 30 named Salacia and her crew. Boat - Alberg 30. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Alberg 30 refit: Dimples on her bottom. Wellno not really. All these little holes have to be filled and sealed. Let the repair process begin! Most of the small pin holes are in the dark shaded areas you see in the picture above. Here is a close up of an affected area.all those tiny dark spots are pin-sized holes, though some are large enough to see fiberglass laminate in them. As the summer rolls along I am...

sv Cookie: Companionway Hatch Construction
http://svcookie.blogspot.com/2013/04/companionway-hatch-construction.html
Thoughts of the Skipper - Refit of Alberg 30 #329 - Journeys. Jimmy - The Skipper. Florida flat-lander refitting an Alberg 30, hull #329, for an eventual circumnavigation of the globe and the journey of a lifetime before I get too old! View my complete profile. Friday, April 5, 2013. Following on from the last post full of silliness. While building the fore hatch I was also simultaneously building a new sliding companionway hatch. It is not completely made from G10 but it is close. I then took the four p...

The Alberg 30 Project. The (slow) Restoration of a 1964 Alberg 30, hull #48. Monday, June 29, 2015. Same song, second verse. The pictures below are from yesterday's work. I didn't snap any pics today. Sunday, June 28, 2015. And the beat goes on. This is the first summer that I've been able to call mine. Every other summer in the last 10 years has had something - either master's work, certification work, travels, or whatever - but this summer is mine! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Alberg 30 Project. The (slow) Restoration of a 1964 Alberg 30, hull #48. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Settees, Galley, and Ice box/Nav. It's amazing how many steps it takes to cut one piece of wood to fit within the contours of a boat's geometry - especially when the power tools are on the ground and the measurements and fitting are within the boat (via a rickety ladder). I've had this project for ten long years already! Had I not been so hot and sweaty and covered in sawdust, I could have taken a nap.

The Alberg 30 Project. The (slow) Restoration of a 1964 Alberg 30, hull #48. Thursday, April 20, 2006. Monday, April 17, 2006. Bulkhead prep and reinforcing the engine mount. Port side of the fiberglass bed. I also added a fillet to the starboard side of the bed, but didn't have time to tab it. Sunday, April 09, 2006. So I dissected the DeWalt angle grinder and the postmortem revealed a blown apart bearing. A trip to Lowe's in search of a replacement bearing turned up nothing (big surprise! That flapper ...

The Alberg 30 Project. The (slow) Restoration of a 1964 Alberg 30, hull #48. Sunday, August 30, 2015. This and that…and back to school. Today was a hodgepodge of tasks, most of them fairly small but all part of moving ahead. I glassed in the vertical supports for the settee backs and cut a bulkhead for the under-sink galley area. Glassing it in had to wait because I have some sanding to do in that area first. Friday, August 21, 2015. Port shelf done - glassing next. I also installed a 1x2 cleat along the...
s/v Natalie B: March 2015
http://svnatalieb.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 22, 2015. Refit considerations and priorities. Last night we did a little informal research (Youtube videos) into composting toilets which got me thinking about what our priorities will/should be when we start the refit of s/v Natalie B. The admiral is very particular about certain comforts so there are a few things not commonly found on an Alberg 30 that I need to consider. In no particular order). Shower with hot water. Storage for blankets/cozy clothing. Dodger and Bimini - our boat incl...
s/v Natalie B: 40 hour dash
http://svnatalieb.blogspot.com/2015/01/40-hour-dash.html
Monday, January 19, 2015. I spent most of Saturday and all of Sunday driving to Tehachapi, CA and back to get a trailer for Natalie B. The trailer will need a little work before it is ready to carry the 9000 lb Alberg 30 2500 miles, but we are now one step closer to bringing her home. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. In January we paid a deposit on a 1971 Alberg 30 sailboat, designed by Carl Alberg, built by Whitby Boat Works in Ontario. S. The Trailer for Natalie B. Anyone u...

Adventures of Salacia
Adventures of an Alberg 30 named Salacia and her crew. Our Boat - Alberg 30. Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Alberg 30 refit: Hull To Deck Joint Failure Photos. I finally got around to taking a further look at the hull-to-deck joint. I can't really tell why it failed but my best guess is the lack of sealant/joint compound. I don't see any evidence of it in the failed portion of the joint. Here is where the joint looks normal. That sealant appears to be from the factory. Friday, August 14, 2015. This week has...
